7 FIRs filed against Vigneshwara, Unitech, Adel Landmarks for fraud
Gurgaon Police has booked three private builders, Unitech, Vigneshwara Developers and Adel Landmarks Limited, and registered seven FIRs against them at different police stations within 24 hours.
In the first case, Sadar police registered three FIRs against Unitech after the city police commissioner ordered an FIR to be filed by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW). The FIR was registered after a complaint was made by three buyers of ‘The Residences’ project — Manish Kumar, Vinod Baxla and Shipra Chabbra — alleging that Unitech collected over Rs 548 crore and “diverted the money to its commercial project which is up and running in Sector-48.”
Unitech has been booked under sections 420/406/409/120B, IPC, for cheating, forgery and fraud, police said.“Unitech was supposed to hand over the project in 2011. Until now, only 90 apartments out of 1,320 are ready. However, the construction of the Sector-48 project started in 2012 and was ready by early 2014,” Kumar alleged.
Sources said the commissioner met the aggrieved buyers and representatives from Unitech on March 2. “The commissioner asked Unitech to explain the reasons for the delay in the project and they could not do so. He then ordered the FIR,” Vikram Bishnoi, who heads the buyers association for ‘The Residences’ said.
However, a Unitech spokesperson said, “We are not yet aware of any FIR being registered against the company or its officials in the last few days… The allegations made by certain individuals… are baseless. Unitech is fully committed to handing over all the flats in the said project and will pay penalty to the allottees for delay in handing over the flats.”
Three cases were also registered against Vigneshwara Developers for cheating and criminal conspiracy. Sushant Lok police booked Sunil Dahiya, Sanjay Dahiya and Darayo Singh Dahiya on Tuesday after three more investors turned up with complaints. “A case under sections 406, 420 and 120B of the IPC has been registered,” ACP (Crime) Rajesh Kumar said.
Police said investors had protested last year against the delay in handing over possession of projects in Sector-74. “The investors claimed that the projects have been under construction since 2006- 2007,” Kumar said. Officials of Vigneshwara Developers were not available for comment.
The third case was registered against Adel Landmarks at Rajendra Park police station. The complainant, Suresh Chand, alleged that he paid the initial booking amount of Rs 6 lakh in 2012 and Rs 5.63 lakh later but he still does not have a builder-buyer agreement, relevant documents and timeline for completion of the project. Police said they were conducting investigations and will arrest the accused soon.
