Trump’s re-election campaign raised over $30M in first quarter

President Trump’s re-election campaign reportedly raised more than $30 million during the first three months of 2019 — giving him a major head start over his Democratic competitors.

Trump’s top two opponents in terms of fund-raising, Sens. Bernie Sanders and Kamala Harris, only managed to raise $18.2 million and $12 million, respectively, during that same period.

The first-quarter hauls were reported Sunday by the Associated Press.

On average, the Trump campaign said it received donations of $34.26 — nearly double the amount that Sanders received. Roughly 99 percent of the donations were $200 or less.

The president has been raising money for his campaign since 2017. He filed his finance paperwork last year for re-election earlier than any other president in history.
