Mulvaney once called Trump a ‘terrible human being’

President Trump’s incoming acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney had some harsh words for his future boss at a Congressional debate held days before the 2016 election.

“Yes, I am supporting Donald Trump, but I’m doing so despite the fact that I think he’s a terrible human being,” Mulvaney said at the time.

The South Carolina Congressman was running for re-election in his district.

The Daily Beast unearthed the video clip.

On Friday afternoon, Trump tweeted that Mulvaney would serve as his acting chief of staff.

The president had previously announced that current Chief of Staff John Kelly would be leaving at the end of the year.

The White House later said that Mulvaney would not resign from his position of Office of Management and Budget director, which he has held since the beginning of the administration.

Mulvaney had also served as the acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau from November 2017 to earlier this month.
