Nancy Pelosi says House will vote on Iran resolution this week

The US House of Representatives will vote on a resolution this week to restrict President Donald Trump’s ability to attack Iran, according to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
The War Powers Resolution “reasserts Congress’s long-established oversight responsibilities by mandating that if no further Congressional action is taken, the Administration’s military hostilities with regard to Iran cease within 30 days,” the Democratic Speaker wrote in the letter.
President Trump had directed an airstrike near Baghdad’s airport Thursday night, which killed Iran’s top military general, Qassem Soleimani.
Since the strike, tensions have escalated between both countries, with Trump and the Iranian regime exchanging threats.
On Sunday, the president sent out a tweet notifying Congress that the US will “quickly & fully strike back” if the Iranian regime launches a retaliatory strike against America.
“These Media Posts will serve as notification to the United States Congress that should Iran strike any U.S. person or target, the United States will quickly & fully strike back, & perhaps in a disproportionate manner,” Trump wrote on Twitter.
“Such legal notice is not required, but is given nevertheless!”
