Trump claps back at Biden after being called a ‘bully’

Donald Trump hurled verbal jabs at Joe Biden on Friday over NATO, China and the Democratic presidential front-runner’s comments about him as a “bully.”

“I don’t think I’m a bully,” the president told reporters on the White House lawn before leaving for his golf club in Bedminster, NJ.

Biden said on CNN earlier Friday that Trump is “the bully that I knew my whole life.”

“He’s the bully that used to make fun when I was a kid that I stutter, and I’d smack him in the mouth,” Biden said in response to host Chris Cuomo’s question about how Democratic voters can be confident he’s up to the task of taking on the combative president.

Trump also assailed Biden over China.

“We’ve lost our shirts with China and now China is dying to make a deal. And we’re taking, by the way, billions and billions of dollars of tariffs coming in and China is paying for it, not our people,” he said.

“So if you look at what we’ve done and if you look at it, I call it the Obama-Biden mess,” Trump added.

In his interview on CNN, Biden also warned that NATO would be disbanded if Trump wins another term in office.

The president has long expressed skepticism over the multinational alliance, complaining that too many of its members have failed to meet defense spending targets.

At his prodding, NATO members’ defense spending has climbed since 2016.

“Let me put it this way, if he wins re-election, I promise you there will be no NATO in four years or five years,” Biden said.

“What bothers me abroad is, look, the idea that we can go it alone with no alliances for the next 20 or 30 years is a disaster,” Biden continued.

“I come out of a generation where we were trying to be the policemen of the world. We can’t go in every place. We need allies,” he said.

“He is absolutely dissing them. He’s embracing thugs. He’s embracing Kim Jong Un, who is a thug. He’s embracing [Russian President Vladimir] Putin, who is a flat dictator.”

In his comments at the White House on Friday, Trump said: “Tell Biden that NATO has taken total advantage of him and President Obama. We were paying for almost all of NATO.”

He continued: “We’re protecting countries, those countries have to protect themselves with us. They have to make a contribution. In my first year, I raised over $100 billion from those countries. Biden didn’t know what the hell he was doing and neither did President Obama.”

Trump added that “NATO is fine — but they have to pay their way.”

Obama and Biden “didn’t have a clue. They got taken advantage of by China, by NATO, by every country,” he said.
